When does the Codex limit reset?
There is no single Codex reset clock. The correct time depends on which limit stopped your work and which timestamp your account displays.
Start with the limiting window
Codex can show more than one usage window. A short window limits concentrated activity, while a weekly limit controls a longer allocation. Their timers can expire independently, so a five-hour reset does not imply that the weekly balance also renewed.
The reliable reset time is the timestamp attached to the relevant counter in the official product. A time reported by another user may describe a different window, plan, workspace, or start point.
Scheduled resets and broad resets
A scheduled reset belongs to your account window. A broad reset is an exceptional public action affecting an announced audience and may occur before the scheduled time. Codex Limit Watch tracks the public event separately so it does not overwrite the meaning of your personal timer.
- Use the account timestamp for scheduled capacity.
- Use sourced announcements for broad reset events.
- Treat future or rollout language as a preview until completion is explicit.
How to read a reset timestamp
Confirm the timezone, date, and counter label before planning work. If the interface uses a relative countdown, compare it with the current device time and allow for a refresh delay after the countdown reaches zero.
A reset restores capacity according to the product rules; it does not necessarily change plan size, model cost, or the rate at which a demanding task consumes the new allowance.
If the expected time passes
Refresh the official usage view, verify the active account or workspace, and check whether the blocked counter was actually the one expected to reset. If the official timestamp has passed and capacity remains unavailable, preserve a screenshot for official support without sharing credentials publicly.
