Codex weekly limit reset time
Treat the weekly counter as a budget with a deadline, not as a speedometer. The useful question is whether remaining capacity is ahead of remaining time.
When does the Codex weekly limit reset?
Your scheduled weekly reset time is shown in your own account. It is tied to your usage window rather than a single universal weekday or time. A broad reset is an exceptional action announced for many users; the homepage monitors that event separately.
Can the weekly limit reset early?
An account may appear to reset early after a sourced broad reset, a rollout, or a display refresh. Verify the counter and timestamp in the official product before assuming the normal weekly schedule changed.
A simple pacing formula
Required remaining quota equals hours until reset divided by 168, multiplied by 100. We add a five-point margin to prevent the recommendation changing around a narrow boundary.
- 50% remaining with 72 hours left is slightly ahead of pace.
- 20% remaining with 96 hours left is well behind pace.
- A near reset can make waiting sensible for non-urgent heavy work.
What the formula cannot know
Task cost varies by model, reasoning effort, tool use, and session length. The helper is planning guidance, not an official quota calculator, and it never reads your OpenAI account.
